Who was James Cook?

  In the 18th century Captain James Cook, the explorer and navigator whose achievements in mapping led three great (1) ………… of discovery, pushed the (2)……… of the British Empire to the ends of the earth. In just over a decade he would add almost a third to the map of the known world. Cook sailed thousands of miles across largely uncharted areas of the globe.
